The Mangshan Mountain is known as the green pearl on the same latitude of the earth, boasting sharp peaks and gullies. The negative oxygen ion concentration in the air is as high as 100,000 per cubic centimeter.

 

To ensure that the elderly, children and disabled people can climb to the top of the mountains as successfully as others, Chenzhou built sightseeing ropeways, suspension walkways and vertical elevators in Wuzhifeng Scenic Area in early 2017, which made it the first mountain scenic area with barrier-free tour in the country. In October 2019, Wuzhifeng Scenic Area was open to the public, becoming a beautiful tourist attraction in Chenzhou City.

 

As the Excellent Tourism City of China and Hot Spring City of China, Chenzhou boasts 2 national nature reserves, 8 forest parks, 4 wetland parks, 1 geological park and more than 100 tourist attractions like the Dongjiang Lake.

 

“Chenzhou is a beautiful and enchanting tourist destination full of happiness. It’s an Internet-famous city where tourists prefer to spend the night and do some shopping.” Wu Jupei, secretary of the CPC Chenzhou Municipal Committee, promoted Chenzhou to the whole country.

 

In the past decade, Chenzhou has taken measures to develop the tourism industry. It has focused on three major projects of tourism marketing, main body cultivation and service improvement.

 

Moreover, it has held cultural and tourism promotion meetings in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and actively participated in the International Tourism Exhibition and Tourism Commodity Fair in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to attract tourists to Chenzhou.

 

On New Year’s Day this year, the Yangtianhu special train on Chenzhou-Guangzhou-Shenzhen Express Line was put into operation, making it more convenient for Chenzhou to connect with the Greater Bay Area. Many visitors from the Greater Bay Area galloped horses in the Yangtian Lake Grassland Scenic Area and enjoyed the charming scenery of the grassland.

 

Last year, Chenzhou was named the most popular domestic tourism destination by Guangdong Province. More than 80% of tourists (not the local tourists) came from the Greater Bay Area.

 

In the first half of this year, the city received 25,899,500 visitors of all kinds and achieved a total tourism revenue of 26.298 billion yuan, ranking second in Hunan Province in terms of tourist arrivals and revenue.

 

Now the villages have taken on a new look. Every effort is being made to strengthen the collective economy of the village and to help the villagers increase their income.

 

A few years ago, Kuandong Village was just a small mountain village in Yangtianhu Yao Township in Beihu District. The village maintained 4,400 mu (about 293.33 hectares) of grassland and leased it to the Yangtian Lake Grassland Scenic Area, which alone increased the annual collective income of the village by 88,000 yuan.

 

There are over 50 B&B established in Jindong Village, Oujiang Town, Guidong County, with an annual income of more than 6 million yuan. Thanks to this industry,  a number of villagers are enjoying income growth.
